OBITUARY AND DONATIONS

With profound sadness, the family of Edouard Serge Pierre Louis announces his passing on June 27, 2024. Born on October 4, 1945, in Port-de-Paix, Haiti, Edouard was the fourth child of Alfonsine and Joseph Pierre Louis. His life was a testament to resilience, hard work, and an enduring love for family and community.

Edouard's early years in Haiti were marked by the challenges of growing up under the oppressive regime of Papa Doc Duvalier. In pursuit of a safer and better future, Edouard left his homeland in 1967, embarking on a journey that took him through the Bahamas before finally settling in the United States. This brave move laid the foundation for a new life filled with opportunities and achievements.

Upon arriving in the United States, Edouard quickly adapted to his new environment. Driven by a strong work ethic, he pursued an education in bodywork repair, earning his technical school certificate in 1968. His dedication to his craft not only provided him with a steady livelihood but also instilled in him a sense of pride and accomplishment.

In 1969, Edouard's life took a joyous turn when he met Jeanine through his beloved aunt, Anne Marie. Their connection was immediate, and the couple married in 1970. Together, they built a loving home and welcomed their first child, Sheresse. Five years later, their family grew with the birth of their son, Perk. Edouard was a devoted husband and father, always putting his family's well-being at the forefront of his endeavors.

In 1985, Edouard's entrepreneurial spirit emerged as he embarked on a new venture as a distributor for Mac Tools. This opportunity transformed his life, providing him with sales training that helped him break out of his shy shell. Edouard often remarked that this experience was pivotal, allowing him to develop into the confident and charismatic man everyone knew and loved.

In 1987, seeking new opportunities and a warmer climate, Edouard moved his family from New York to Miami, Florida. He continued to explore various business ventures and maintained an interest in real estate. Ultimately, he found his true calling as a bodywork mechanic with the Miami Dade Transit Authority. Edouard thrived in this role, finding immense satisfaction in his work and the camaraderie with his colleagues.

Edouard's commitment to his peers was evident when he took on the role of shop steward for the Transit Workers Union. In this position, he passionately advocated for the rights and well-being of his fellow employees, earning their respect and admiration. His leadership and dedication were instrumental in fostering a supportive work environment.

After two decades of service, Edouard retired from the Miami Dade Transit Authority in 2009. Retirement, however, did not slow him down. He channeled his energy into volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, making their South Dade location his second home. Edouard's volunteer work allowed him to combine his love for real estate flipping with his desire to give back to the community. Through Habitat for Humanity, he forged numerous connections and friendships, leaving an indelible mark on those he worked with.

Edouard's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and unwavering faith. He passed away peacefully at home, cradled in the arms of his beloved wife, Jeanine. His legacy is carried on by his children, Sheresse and Perk, and their spouses, Marcus and Nadine. Edouard was a cherished grandfather to Kai Elle, Penelope, and Addison, who brought immense joy to his later years.

Edouard is also mourned by his siblings, Josette, Ginette, Mireille, Margarette, and Hereaux, along with their spouses and children. His extended family, including nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and a great-grandniece, remember him with fondness and gratitude. The Guerrier in-laws, friends, former coworkers, and countless acquaintances whose lives he touched join the family in mourning this remarkable man.

While the loss of Edouard leaves a profound void, his family takes solace in knowing that he has gone home to his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him with strength and guidance through all of life's challenges. Edouard's spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever.

In remembrance of Edouard Serge Pierre Louis, his family invites friends and loved ones to join in celebrating his life and legacy. A service will be held to honor his memory and to share stories of the remarkable man who brought so much light and love into the world. As we gather to pay tribute, we remember Edouard not only for his accomplishments but for the kindness, generosity, and unwavering love he bestowed upon all who were fortunate enough to know him.
