OBITUARY AND DONATIONS

Deserie Denise Hoyle-McGann (a/k/a Desi or Des), passed away surrounded by love on January 16, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Miami, Florida. She was born in Queens, New York, moved to Brooklyn, New York and finally settled in Miami Florida. She had three children, Korey Gaston, Destiny ("Destinee") Gaddist and Davonn Hoyle. After more than twenty years of dating, she married her love, Maurice McGann on June 1, 2025, and their union expanded to include Maurice's children, Michellanne McGann, Devaughnn McGann and Kayla McGann and grandchildren, Nicholai John and Omar Lorenzo Lyons-Davis Jr.

Deserie's most recent position was with The Department of Children and Families. Her passion for voter's rights encouraged her to work during elections with the Division of Elections, where she eventually became a supervisor.

Deserie had many things she was passionate about in her life. After her car accident, she chose to participate in clinical trials with the University of Miami Spinal Cord Institute with hopes of helping others with spinal cord injuries. She advocated for civil and women's rights and joined in many protests and marches. She often volunteered her time to help those in need. She found her spiritual home at Unity Center of Miami. There, she was the Children's Sunday School Teacher, prepared the Constant Contact, was part of the Prayer Ministry, participated in many charitable events, and enjoyed going on retreats with her spiritual sisters.

Deserie was a constant guide, a source of comfort, humor and unconditional love. Although her marriage to Maurice was short-lived, she adored her husband and made certain to officially change her name. Her kindness extended beyond her family, always lending a hand or a listening ear to family, friends and her community. She taught her children to live with faith, kindness, and compassion, and her legacy will continue in their hearts.

Deserie is preceded in death by her parents, Maria Forrest and Frank Hoyle. She leaves to mourn her passing, cherish her memory, and celebrate her life: her husband, her children, her step- children, her step-grandchildren, her sister, Yvonne Blaise, her brothers Dave Forrest and Lloyd Forrest, her nieces Chloe Blaise and Avery Louis, her nephews, Jayden Forrest and Jaheim Forrest, her step-father, Nelson Forrest, her brother-in-law, Patrick Blaise, aunts, uncles, cousins, many beloved family members, friends, colleagues and her spiritual family, Unity Center of Miami.
